Questions While Wondering What Ever Happened to Keith Olberman . . .

If one is in Riker’s Island Jail, how does one resign as Managing Director of the IMF?  Does one do so on Riker’s Island Jail stationary?  If so, this is surely the first time the IMF has ever received a letter on Riker’s Island letterhead.

What exactly did Sen. Tom Coburn expect would happen when he joined the Gang of Six Senators who were going to devise a deficit reduction plan based on lower spending and higher taxes?  Did he think the anti-tax wing of the Republican Party, which is the Republican Party, would stand up and cheer?  In what universe does that happen?

And what do you call the Gang of Six after Sen. Coburn has left the group?  This one the Dismal Political Economist can answer, The Gang of None.

Katie Couric has left CBS News.  When she started the general population feared that she would bring “soft” coverage to hard news stories.  When she changed the newscast of Walter Cronkite, Dan Rather and Bob Shieffer to one of “soft” news stories, what exactly did she expect would happen?

Politico wonders whether or not this is the Most Depressing Political Ad Ever?  Mr. Davis is running as a third party in the Special House election in NY’s 26th Congressional District.  The vote in most special elections is usually depressed, it surely will be with this ad.

Why does Duke freshman basketball start Kyrie Irving think he is ready for the NBA after playing only 8 regular seasons games.  Well, he says he had a couple of good games in the NCAA Tournament.  The Dismal Political Economist had 3 good golf holes the other days on his way to shooting a 96.  He is not joining the PGA Tour.
