The Federal Government Reached Its Debt Ceiling yesterday, but is able to continue to operate and borrow.  Don’t you wish everyone could operate like that.  When it was discovered that Mr. Geithner could not do his taxes correctly, everyone scoffed.  Now he apparently cannot do debt ceiling correctly.

Bard College Got a $60 million gift from George Soros.  Good for them.  Also good to see money flowing to college other than Harvard, Yale and the other bastions of large unspent endowments.

Stanley Fish Has An Op Ed Column in the NYT  on academic freedom.  Since the Dismal Political Economist has made quite a bit of fun from the Florida State – Koch Brothers Foundation issue, it seems only fair to present an objective discussion of the points of view.
