What Do You Call a Presidential Candidate That Wrote a Book and Cannot Remember or Explain a Passage In It Because He Didn’t Write That Part – You Call Him Rick Santorum, The Family Values Candidate

Claiming Credit for the Work Of Others in a Book Under Your Name is the New Family Value

When in 2005 Presidential hopeful Rick Santorum wrote his book, “It Takes a Family” to espouse his peculiar family values, he listed himself as the sole author.  He did thank the people who helped him with it, although he did not mention his wife.  A key part of the book is the blame Mr. Santorum puts on unnamed and unknown (and probably non existent) “radical feminists” whom he cited for the decline in what he considers family value.

“The radical feminists succeeded in undermining the traditional family and convincing women that professional accomplishments are the key to happiness.”

Mr. Santorum was asked about the passage on one of the Sunday news shows that prominently feature Republicans as part of their claim to non-partisanship.  Mr. Santorum replied this way.

In the interview on Sunday, Mr. Santorum pleaded unfamiliarity with the citation, saying, “I don’t know – that’s a new quote for me,” before adding that “the bottom line is that people should have equal opportunity to rise in the work force.”

Well the reason it was “new quote” for Mr. Santorum was because he didn’t write it, even though it was published under his name.

Asked on the ABC News program “This Week” about the book’s contentions, Mr. Santorum noted that his wife, Karen, had written that section — though only his name is on the cover and he does not list her in the acknowledgments as among those “who assisted me in the writing of this book.”

and the only basis for the contention is a personal judgment.

He said that when Mrs. Santorum, a nurse and a lawyer, had quit working to raise the couple’s children, she felt that many people “looked down their nose at that decision.”

So there it is, unknown radical feminists are blamed for the decline of the nation because Mrs. Santorum quit working to raise her children and some unknown person may (or may not have) frowned upon the decision.  Wow, with intellectual integrity like that no wonder Mr. Santorum is now the hit of Conservatives.
