Washington Post Believes Satire – Reports Sarah Palin Will Appear on Al Jazeerra TV

Of Course, How Hard Is It to Fool the WaPo These Days?

How to describe the journalism, or lack thereof, that is printed and posted by the Washington Post.  The Post is to journalism as a Burger King Whopper is to Filet Mignon.  So it is not surprising that the Post picked up a piece of satire on Sarah Palin and reported it as news.

The Post’s Suzi Parker incorrectly reported earlier today on the "She The People" blog that the former vice presidential candidate, who recently left Fox News, had signed onto Al Jazeera America as a contributor. The report, however, was based on a satirical piece in The Daily Currant, a website which states on its "About" page that "our stories are purely fictional."

Parker, however, cited the piece and used quotes the satirical website made up from Palin. The Post has since published a correction on Parker's story stating that "the blogger cited a report on the Daily Currant Web site as the basis for that information without realizing that the piece was satirical."

As for Ms. Palin, well she had a little bit of fun, as well she should have. Here is a Twitter post.
Hey @washingtonpost, I'm having coffee with Elvis this week. He works at the Mocha Moose in Wasilla.

But Sarah should stop and ask herself this.  What is it about her personality, her avarice for money and fame, and her lack of credibility that would cause a newspaper to think that she really would go to work for Al Jazeera?

No, it’s not a pretty question or answer.
